No more Gmails* & Update on Kim - 1/11/12

I'm realizing mass emailing updates is problematic as sites are often suspicious of spamming. And so thanks to some recommendations I am moving all the updates and prayer requests here. Please feel free to pass the link on to others who might be interested. I know some of you are very eager for updates. *If you input your email address in the box above I believe you will get these posts sent to your email. However, I don't think it is in real time (could anyone help with that?). Actually,if anyone is tech savvy and can help me optimize this site I'd really appreciate it!. If you are more tech savvy than me, you can subscribe using the links via an RSS Feeder. You can also send this post via email to others by clicking on the "envelope" icon below. Please feel free to forward our prayer requests to anyone you know who might want to serve us in prayer. There are so many people I know I have left out. We are not ashamed to ask for your help.

HEALTH UPDATE
Until this morning all of the biopsy results were proving inconclusive, however one of the later tests in the stomach area seems to be confirming a specific type of lymphoma. We're still waiting to talk the oncologist on the details, and prognosis. Kim was scheduled to go in for surgery to have a tissue sample removed from her chest area but in one of the last tests the doctors just may have gotten exactly what they were looking for. Please continue to pray that they identify what is going on and if it's the Lord's will that she might avoid the tissue sample surgery (stenoscopy). The fluid from around her heart continues to drain fluid but it is slowing down and they hope to remove the tube in her chest soon - which would relieve some of the pain and allow her chest to begin healing. She is now able to eat whatever she wants and may even be able to walk a little bit today. She still struggles with shortness of breath and fatigue especially when she tries to talk too much and so although I know so many are eager to talk to her - I'm asking for continued patience. In typical fashion she is a big hit with all the nurses here. Some have even shared that they are praying for us and others comfortably share all about their own personal lives and their issues with Kim. What can I say? She's always had that effect on complete strangers.

KID UPDATE
This morning while I was driving the boys to a friend's house I was at a stoplight when my thoughts began to run wild and tears began to well in my eyes. When I looked in the rearview mirror Caleb was staring right back at me from the 3rd row seat of our minivan with these really big, concerned eyes. I quickly started a conversation on Star Wars legos (which is the ultimate purpose of life for my two boys) to smooth it over but I know Caleb is absorbing everything in his sensitive little heart. Please pray that I would be strong for him. I am not as strong as these emails may appear.

Selah is having her ups and downs. She has been complaining of a toothache the last couple days and it's affecting her eating so we could sure use some prayer for that. In the meantime she is having a great time playing with her younger cousin Isaiah. As you can see from the before and after pics below she has quite an influence on him. (Isaiah is doing all he can to cheer her up!)

I can't say this enough, but thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Kim has an ipad at her disposal so when she is up for it she is reading all of your emails and notes. Often times when I look over at her she is smiling, tearing, or smiling/tearing.

In His grace and for His glory,

Peter and Kim

  2. From Else to Caleb:

Dear Caleb, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I pray that God would heal her fast and you would feel God's love. I've been praying every day, I hope she gets better soon. Love, Else

  3. Not completely tech savvy, but do have a blog. I suggest turning of word verification. It makes it easier for people to comment quickly and any spam goes directly to your spam box. I've only gotten 8 or so spam email over the last year. If you are not sure how to do this just let me know and I'll walk you through...pretty easy.

  4. Peter,
I have been getting the updates from Alex but just learned of this blog. As a husband who has had awoken from nightmares about something bad happening to Alex in the past, I have a sense but can't completely imagine what you are going through. My devotional this morning from Mark 5:1-12 talked about how God only provides his deep comfort for those who are "mourning." We are praying fervently for healing for Kim and as few invasive tests as possible to reach a diagnosis. We also are praying for the deep comfort that can only come from Him for Kim, you, and the kids.

  5. Dear Kim,
You all are on our hearts and in our prayers constantly. We pray in faith for God's great healing, for His glory to be made known to many, even in this trial. Remember that Fruits of the Spirit study we were both doing this summer? Well I just picked it back up again and began the chapter on gentleness. As I understand it better and better, I think of you - the true definition of the strength that is found in gentleness of spirit in a humble heart, surrendered to a God who promises to work for our good. May He give you and Peter everything you need to walk through this day by day. Sending all our love and prayers!

  7. Hey brother, the Hartian's are lifting your family in prayer daily. Well done on the site. Do you have a list of needs that can be filled? Is there a meal calender set up? We would love to take the kids for you when you need it...day or night...

When Bonnie's brother was in the hospital, Bonnie put this verse up on his wall, I pray that it provides Kim and you comfort

Isaiah 43:2-3 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. 3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
